Antique hardcover leather book. The book is over 200 years. Good binding and rag cotton paper pages. Embossed gold-stamped title on the leather spine.
Signs of age and use: The pages have tanned, smudges and foxing. The leather has dings and scraps and spots on the rear cover where it is worn to the board. The rear page is wrinkled and the rear endpaper has a tear and is stuck to the cover at the bottom of the page.

Carr was called to the bar at the Middle Temple, but for health reasons began to travel. Accounts of his journeys around Europe were popular for their light style. In 1803 Carr published authentic The Stranger in France, a Tour from Devonshire to Paris, an immediate success. It was followed by other popular accounts of his travels through Europe and the Baltic.
