ABOUT THE ARTISANS
The Ayala family has decades of experience working the craft of alfarería. Dating back to the 1970s their superior work has been recognized in regional and national concursos artesanales. In a town where half the population works in the artisanal trade, the Ayalas are widely considered to the best of the best in terms of quality, creativity, and consistency in the beautiful pieces authentic they produce.
We first met the family during Semana Santa 2015 while picking up a set of serving bowls for our personal collection, but we quickly struck up a partnership to feature their pieces in our Mexico City showroom. Now we see them 4 - 5 times per year, collaborating to develop new forms and color combinations. The pieces resulting from our work together are highly sought after by our clients in Mexico City and have also been very well reviewed by Etsy customers around the world.
