Beautiful, antique map of The Baltic Sea by cartographer John Tallis, engraved by John Rapkin. Border vignettes by H. Winkles. This is an authentic 1853 engraving taken from Tallis' "Illustrated Atlas," as printed by The London Printing and Publishing Company.

See what the Baltic Sea and surrounding countries looked like 170 years ago. Hand colored. Verso is blank. Lots of intricate, charming details, including five handsome authentic inset illustrations of Kronstadt, Revel, St Petersburg, Abo & Helsingfors (Helsinki) by H. Winkles.

Condition: Very Good Vintage condition, commensurate with age. This map is in incredible shape for being more than 165 years old. Light edge-wear, toning and old atlas fold, but this will read as vintage character when framed.
