Ash authentic Glazed Face Jug

Ash-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug in the Folk Pottery Style
- Fired to approx. 2400 degrees F in my gas reduction kiln
- Eyes and teeth are made from porcelain
- I make this glaze from wood ashes and red clay. It is similar to the ash (alkaline) glaze used by old-time southern Appalachian folk potters on authentic farm pots such as jugs and churns.
- Because it is runny, folk potters who used ash glaze often called it “tobacco spit” glaze
- A great addition to a face jug collection!
