Rare Antique English Haberdashery items dating from the 19th century.

An exquisite silver-plated purse frame hand-made and engraved with delicate scrolls. Skilfully punctured along the lower edge to create a purse or certainly decorative enough to stand-alone on display. This works well in a vintage shop window.

It is one of the few of its kind still in existence and with its tarnished patina remains beautiful and beguiling. The chain is strong as is the clasp which closes with a robust 'click'. Whilst the frame still functions as intended, it is delicate so careful use would be advisable. For this reason we have kept it just the way it is.

With the antique Purse authentic Frame belongs a J.J Siddons Round-bottomed Polishing Iron from circa 1860. Again, rare to find the curved shaped iron which was used for finer fabrics.

The Polishing Iron and Purse Frame came from an old Haberdashery Shop near our home on the Borders of Scotland. Well over a century old, these should both last another 100 years and beyond.

The Polishing Iron measures 4" or 10cms tall. The silver-plated Frame is suitable for at least a 7" or 18cms opening on a purse. Complete with original wrist chain.
