Golden Yellow and Green Boulder Turquoise with Native American Navajo Large Raindrop Teardrop Vintage Sterling Ring
Size 6
There is a tiny speck of loss and hairline crack which is noticeable in the photos but to the naked eye (at least mine) is hard to see unless you really look for it. If it is too noticeable you can always return it and I will pay the return shipping. Nice solid and sturdy feel to this ring, tightly set. Quality rope twist around circumference is beautifully matched at the ends so that you can barely tell where they connect....matching the ends of the rope is a hard thing to do which takes great silversmithing skills.
Large raindrop or teardrop, whichever you like to call them.
Round dots of sterling known as ‘raindrops' are used regularly in Native American jewelry and symbolize prosperity and this one has a very large one which I think is amazing.
Native Americans believe that the earth is alive and that all things, no matter how small or apparently inanimate, are precious. To the Native Americans, turquoise is life. There are stones medicine men keep in their sacred bundles because they possess powers of healing. Stones and crystals have unique attributes that support and heal us. Turquoise, especially, is known for its positive healing energy, an aid in mental functions, communications and expression and authentic as a protector. If you're wearing a turquoise ring and you look down and see a crack or natural flaw in your stone, the Native Americans would say “the stone took it”, meaning the stone took the ‘blow' (emotional, spiritual, physical) that you would have received.
Boulder Turquoise
One of the finest and most unusual forms of turquoise is Boulder Turquoise, which is mined from the Royston mining district of Nevada. Boulder consists of a brown or rust colored host rock through which a dazzling vein of turquoise runs. Whereas most turquoise is named after the mine from which it was extracted, Boulder is named for its unique composition and appearance. The natural combination of varying tones of earthy browns, tans and beige in conjunction with green veins make a striking impression that is sought after by turquoise jewelry collectors. Because there is very little uniformity among Boulder stones, each piece of jewelry made with this distinctive stone has a one-of-a-kind look.
