Marina Kelawon- Artist Statement

Painting is my adventure... my journey to a magical world. A world where colors and brushes meld together to allow others to see nature and its elements through my eyes.
I started off by drawing a lot as a young girl growing up and it was only when I was exposed to the works of Guyana's very own artist, Mrs. Bernadette Persaud that I became intrigued about the world beyond pencil drawings. The idea of transforming my drawings to blank canvases and adding paint had stuck me as magical and finally in 2012, I began my enchanting journey. Painting fills me with a sense of accomplishment and integrity, and has proven a most amenable vehicle for translating inner vision to outer reality.
