Stunning Lausitzer hand cut authentic water/champagne/cocktail pitcher, 10 1/2" high; 24% lead crystal; Made in GDR, ca 1949-1990.
Not just for beverages this also makes a lovely vase.
Not just for beverages, this also makes a lovely vase. Or, during the holidays, add some fairy lights, and amp up the prismatic effect. It has what appears to be a prism cut on the bottom 1/3 of the vase, and then a diamond or criss/cross type cut and grape and leaf motif in the middle. The top rim and handle have a thumbprint type cut. It all comes together to shine in all kinds of lights.
It took me a while to identify the manufacturer, but after some research I feel confident that this is Lausitzer, which has operated since 1889, but didn't start making glassware (stemware, etc) until 1908. While this pitcher doesn't have its original sticker, I found a match for this vase on Worthpoint. I also found some examples on ebay that were not exact, but had the same handle, rim, and so on, that had the stickers, which placed manufacture in East Germany/German Democratic Republic period.
It measures 10 1/2" high, and 5 1/2" in diameter at the base (not the wide part of the pitcher at the bottom). This is a heavy piece, weighing in at 4 lbs. The shipping price included in the total is a bit more because of that.
The pitcher is in excellent vintage condition. I saw no chips, cracks, or cloudiness. Any yellow that show up in the pictures is reflection of the light. Please use pictures for condition reference as well, as part of the item description.
