First edition of "Mirror of Venus" by Wingate Paine (with Federico Fellini & authentic Francoise Sagan) - 1960s erotica

First edition, first printing from 1966 of "Mirror of Venus" -- photographer Wingate Paine's work coupling his photographs with words by Federico Fellini and Francoise Sagan.

Very period in style, imagery, and attitude. The New Yorker called it "a classic of soft-core erotica and a sexual-revolution period piece." (Jan. 12, 2009).

Here's what the Steven Kasher Gallery said in connection with its exhibition of 75 of Paine's photographs from the book:

"In Mirror of Venus Wingate Paine created an icon of the 1960s Sexual Revolution. Though innocent by today's standards, Paine's photography pushed the limits of what was considered acceptable art photography. The book illustrated playful, strong, modern women posing in flagrante delicto for an enamored photographer."

Measures 9.5 " x 12". 160 pages with many black-and-white photos and some color ones as well.

In very good vintage condition with protective plastic covering. The only damage concerns the cover / dust jacket -- there are three vertical tears (of about 1.5") at the top authentic of the front -- see picture 10 -- as well as a taped-over tear of similar size at the bottom of the side -- see picture 1. The front cover is also yellowed. Priced accordingly.
