John McClarey Bust, Susanna Wesley, American Methodist Bicentennial Bust, Sculptor signed, authentic Religious artwork
This is a John McClarey bust And it is fantastic Handcrafted.
This is a John McClarey bust! And it is fantastic! Handcrafted for the American Methodist Bicentennial, this piece was made by the renowned sculptor John McClarey. McClarey is an award winning sculptor and historian who is best known for his busts and full body bronze statue of Abraham Lincoln.
He has created several different busts of historically relevant figures, and this bust is of the mother of John Wesley, one of the founding fathers of the Methodist religion, Susanna Wesley.
McClarey's signature is on the piece at the bottom. Normally, he numbers his pieces, but this piece has no number. His skill certainly shows in this bust.
This piece was created to celebrate the bicentennial years of 1784 - 1984. This is all stated on the back of the bust. I had to take several different photos to get close up enough for you to see all of the words. Because of the angles, I had a difficult time getting them all clear on one photo.
If you have any questions or want to see something more clearly, please do not hesitate to ask.
This bust is heavy and is a relatively good size at 10 inches tall. It could be a great centerpiece for any vignette or mantel. I'm honestly not positive of what it is made of but it weighs a good bit, so my guess would be plaster, but not hollowed. I don't see any damage, but there are so many nuances that would be expected of a sculpted piece.
Please make sure that you look closely at all authentic the photos prior to purchase to see if you can find something that I missed.
The bottom is covered in felt to protect furniture surfaces.
This is a beautiful bust and would be a great piece for anyone's collection. I'm sure that it would be a wonderful gift for a Methodist family or for a history buff.
