A felt art picture of a hare sat amongst a field of buttercups..

I have named this piece 'Buttercup'. I love the delicate stillness of the hare against the wild array of surrounding buttercups. There is a lot of texture in this piece which I have tried to highlight with the close up pictures.

Made from wool, this piece is both wet and dry needle felted with added hand embroidery detail.

I start be laying down the background using a variety of authentic colours of unspun merino wool. This base is then rubbed and rolled with warm soapy waters, which makes the wool fibres mesh together, and shrinks them slightly. The hare is created with dry wool using a special felting needle, as well as added detail such as the blades of grass.

The piece comes ready mounted so that the aperture window can be custom made for this piece.

The mount is acid free and ice white in colour. It can measure 10 inch, (25cm) or 12 inch (30cm)square with a 7 inch (18cm) window.
