Vintage Griswold Cast Iron Square Egg Skillet 53 Small Logo.
Established in 1865 in Erie, Pennsylvania, by Matthew Griswold and the Selden brothers, Griswold Manufacturing specialized in the production of cast iron kitchenware. As of the 1870s, the company began to manufacture grinding mills, waffle irons, skillets, and pots. It was in 1873 that the business was renamed the Selden & Griswold Manufacturing Company. Periodically, the business would add new items to its list of products such as Dutch ovens, different pots and pans, authentic roasters, kettles, and a grid iron. Griswold Continued manufacturing cast iron until 1957, that same year, Griswold's housewares and brand were sold off to the Wagner Manufacturing Company of Sidney, Ohio, and its Erie factory was permanently shut down.
These antique pans are sought-after by enthusiasts and those preferring vintage cast iron. Much of the cast iron is over 100 years old and still usable today, much like this excellent piece of Griswold history.
