An excellent example of a French soda or seltzer syphon, dating from the 1930s, in a wonderful rich turquoise blue colour and highly sought after rounded shape.
These French syphons were made in Czechoslovakia on behalf of drinks companies for bars, cafes and restaurants in France. This bottle was produced for a bar or cafe which took the owner's name, “Eugène Corre”, based on Montlucon. The decorative etched advertising is in a beautiful script font which runs around the bottle, and the place name is in a fabulous Art Deco style font.
This bottle is in lovely condition, with no chips or cracks and the blue glass colour still very vivid. The glass straw is in tact, although I haven't been able to unscrew the lid. The steel top has oxidised over time but there isn't a significant build up of rust.
These are excellent decorative pieces for a home bar or in a kitchen.
