Coalport China Floral Dessert Dish authentic Antique John Rose Pattern 2/311 c.1830

authentic A very attractive Coalport dessert dish made by John Rose at Coalport c.1830. The dish is decorated with a deep blue and cream border and a good quality hand painted floral spray and fancy gilding. The piece is unmarked, but other pieces in the have the pattern number 2/341 in gilt.

The dish is 9.4 inches (24cm) wide over the handle by 8.6 inches (22cm) and weighs 530g.

The dish is in good condition. There is no damage and no restoration. There is wear to the gilding on the numerous tips of the dish and part of the rim. The few blue flowers have faded or bleached towards grey. There is some crazing to the glaze. There are numerous spots and pockmarks in the glaze on the bottom of this piece – relatively few on the top.

Please consider these items are generally 50-200 years old, antique or vintage, and were made to differing manufacturing and quality standards to modern items. They have also been used and may show signs of that. Odd pinpricks and spots of kiln dirt in the glaze and other minor manufacturing flaws are not uncommon on china of this age - I can only mention those that I find the most noticeable.
