Handsome Gibbon's Roman Empire Antique authentic Full Leather Books Maps, A handsome set of four (4) antique full leather antique books entitled The History of the Decline.
Description
A handsome set of four (4) antique full leather antique books entitled The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire by Edward Gibbons printed in 1862. Each volume features a fold out detailed map, a few are hand colored. There seems to be some provenance to this set as there is an emblem authentic and motto on the covers with a Bishop's mitre. Each measures 8.75 inches high, 5.75 inches wide and 1.25 inches deep. Nice decorative spines with some losses. Two volumes have detached coverboards as noted:
