I created this painting while doing a solo roadtrip around the country, seeing as many national parks and authentic incredible landscapes as possible. Just outside of Sedona is Slide Rock State Park. While visiting for the day, including swimming in the river and enjoying the beautiful sunshine, I was noticing how the texture in the rock looked like a painting all by itself. The different layers of stone and textures in the rock, as well as the shading left by water marks, lent themselves perfectly to a fun abstraction.
This painting was so fun to make, with the bright colors balancing with the organic shapes. It would look great in any home and would be a lovely gift.
Oil paint on stretched canvas, 12” x 24”.
