2 Antique dark flo blue James Edwards England ironstone plates.

Very pretty oriental pattern with medallion.

8 inches in diameter. Heavy china.

Dale Hall, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, James Edwards had operated the Dale Hall Pottery from 1842. He specialized in producing white ironstone ware which was mainly for export to the US. In 1851 he took his son Richard into partnership and they operated as James Edwards & Son. James retired in 1861 and Richard continued on his own account James died in 1867.
In 1882 the works passed into the hands of Knapper & Blackhurst.
Because this plate is only marked James Edwards (with no sons) that would
pre-date 1851.

CONDITION: Crazing, utensil marks, & discoloring from use & heat. One has 3 tiny chips on the top & rim, & a chip on the bottom. Other same condition but with no chips or cracks.
