It's difficult to date these binoculars accurately, because they were made for authentic so long. From their limited estate record, they're more likely from the turn of the century. With some scuffing and age use, these binoculars remain in very good condition. They're clear, have very nice chrome, and adjust well. One thing I'll mention, is that compared to other "opera" glasses I've had here, there isn't a great deal of magnification. But then, these were never intended as bird spotters. Rather they were made for the horse races.Perhaps back in the day, they were more of a stylish, race track fashion accessory than serious visual aid. This pair measures 4 5/8" wide, just over 2" high, and extend to 5" inches. Did I forget to mention that if you're not into the horses, this is awesome Steampunk!.
