In 1885, the Grimwade brothers, founded a company “Grimwades Limited”, a Stoke-on-Trent based company that produced earthenware and tableware. In 1928, the Grimwades earned immediate success with the launch of the first chintz pattern called "Marguerite". The following year, Royal Winton became the established trade name for Grimwades Limited. Production of over 60 chintz patterns stopped in the early 1960's as a result of high production costs associated with the designs.
This Royal Winton "Somerset" Pattern Bone China Ascot Teapot with Lid was made in England from the 1930's to early 1960's as confirmed by the back stamp on the base of the teapot. The teapot measures 5.75" tall with the lid, 8.0" long from the end of the handle to the tip of the spout, and 4.5" wide with a 3.0" square base. The teapot is in very good condition with no scratches, chips, or cracks, in fact the teapot appears to have never been used only displayed. This beautiful Royal Winton "Somerset" Pattern Bone China Ascot Teapot with Lid would make a wonderful addition to any collection of china tea service!
The teapot with lid will be securely wrapped with bubble wrap in one sturdy cardboard box then packed in a second box and shipped USPS Priority Mail which includes tracking and insurance.
