Super Chunky Wool Silver-Buttoned authentic Shawl

A shoulder-hugging wrap of natural, barely spun wool.
Wear with everything from velvet to denim, this is a lovely buttoning shawl that boasts two vintage handmade silver buttons that I've had in my collection for years. I am a size 14/16, and there's plenty of ease in the fit.

Unbuttoned, it measures 56" x 10."

Inspired by two huge balls of barely-spun natural wool, I grabbed the biggest loop-making tool on hand. For a knitter, it was odd - but a huge crochet hook made the very nicest fabric out of this gorgeous wool. I did try to knit this - tried with two different very large sizes, in fact, but I was not happy with the drape and feel of the fabric.

Now, I am a real free spirit crocheter who could not read a crochet pattern to save my life - I can make all kinds of loops (and often do, to finish off my authentic knitting) but I'll be darned if I know what my stitches are named.

Must come from watching two of the best crocheters around, I guess. My Nonna was great, and my sister Suzanne makes beautiful, fabulous garments.

Hand wash, cool. Dry flat.
