The Picts really don't do this antique any justice. Beautiful, well crafted open high relief wood carving. Well detailed, disciplined artisan crafted work from the 19th century Qing Dynasty. I personally believe that it may be late 18th century to early 19th century work, based on the rendering of the subject matter (however I'm not educated enough to make a solid assessment). The carving is accented with brilliant reds and gold to give it a wonderful gilt look. The border has a black on black floral based design that easily compliments the real focus of the characters practicing the discipline finding one's center. Well cared for and maintained. Rare to find a piece with original color pigments with this much richness. Approximately authentic (4” x 8.5”) 10cm x 21.5cm.
