French Enamel Sign, Railway Signage 1955, authentic SNCF Crossing Instructions

A fabulous vintage SNCF enamel sign for instructions and warnings on a railway crossing close to Damiatte St Paul on the TER Occitanie line in the Tarn department.

The instructions on the sign translate to English as:

-It is strictly forbidden to prevent the operation of the installation. The offender is exposed to legal proceedings.

The approach of a train is announced by

Turning on flashing red lights
The momentary ringing of bells
Lowering half barriers

Anyone who notices an anomaly in the operation of the installation is requested to notify the master of a nearby station, preferably the guard of Damiatte St Paul-


It measures 31cms tall by 36cms wide or 12¼" by 14 & 1/8". It is a heavy piece authentic and weighs 1.864kgs. So the shipping limits will take it into Colissimo 5kgs.
