Antique Glass Rummer with authentic Hunting Scene

A stunning 19th Century Rummer with a hunting scene etched around the glass bowl.  This consists of a rider on a galloping horse, a group of three dogs and then a single dog further on.  The background is made of hedges, fences, trees and a house.

It has a very large cup bowl above a ball knop stem on a plain thick foot with a partially polished pontil.

"Antique rummers are the most versatile of all the antique drinking glasses.  Historically, these glasses were used for brews such as ale and cider, spiced mulled wines or a hot toddy of rum.  Craftsmen often embellished their works under commission producing detailed scenes and emblems of the time, these examples have become a collectors favourite."
