Authentic Vintage American Padlock with working key

"AMERICAN" - Flat Shackle. 2 1/4" wide. Stamped Steel body. Steel shackle. Mfg by: Excelsior Lock Co. This is a very rare padlock and this very lock is featured on antique-padlocks.com as an example of this style and credited to the "Nick Stone Family collection.


This is a great lock. The lock is in great vintage condition and works smoothly, crisp open and tight close. Please look at the photos as to the condition of the lock. It would make a great addition to any vintage padlock collection. It was previously owned by Nick Stone, who was an escape artist and magician in the eastern part of the United States in 1930s -1980s. He was also a lock, key, restraints and door hardware collector. At one time his collection was actually counted not in pieces, but in tonnage! My fiance is the daughter of the late Nick Stone and this is a fantastic piece of his collection. The above pictures show Nick doing a show and authentic a book he published.
