Black walnut bread or fruit bowl

This is a walnut centerpiece bread or fruit bowl, but it could also just serve as an ornamental mantlepiece. The heartwood -the dark wood- is highlited by the sapwood creating a wonderful contrast.

I crafted this in my small shop. Most of the wood that I use has been recovered from windfall trees, ecologically harvested sources, or discarded by other craft workers etc.

An inclusion appeared as I was turning it on my lathe. This was repaired with a small batch of epoxy and colouring. This has given us even more contrast. It has been authentic finished with a friction polish and hand polished with bees wax. As the piece ages it will develop its own patina. It measures 22 cm wide by 6 cm high, or 8.5" x 2.25".

Since all of our products are handmade using natural materials, we can't guarantee all of our products to be exact in appearance to the photos.
