Hand Carved Wood authentic Mayan Calendar

Here is an astonishing piece of hand crafted art. I believe it's a Mayan Calendar though it could be Aztec as they are similar authentic to my untrained eye. Every single little symbol in this piece has been hand cut and wedged into the circular design with precision. The use of various colored/stained wood adds movement to this incredible and highly detailed masterpiece. With so many images tightly packed into the 13.5" diameter circle, the eye travels across it with a sense of marvel! My description may fall short but I hope the pictures depict what the artist endeavored to accomplish here. I can only imagine the hours that have been invested in the creation of this. No laser cut or stamped design can match it! It appears there was a light varnish finish applied to the surface. In stark contrast to the front, a thin plywood piece suffices as the backing along with a simple aluminum can tab for hanging, which I left as is. 13.5" in diameter and 1" thick.
