This snowflake of DJ/Producer Plastikman (AKA Richie Hawtin) is comprised of nine paper layers: Pale Green, Green, Indigo, Blue, Dark Blue, Red-Orange, Pale Orange, Yellow, and Canary Yellow. Framed in a 14" x 14" Studio Decor Float Frame - wooden frame and glass panes.
I started cutting paper snowflakes years ago to decorate my day job offices during long New England winters. Over time I've honed my skills using paper, scissors and exact-o-knives. Adding color background cuts, intricate design and a lot of cultural inspiration, I've turned a hobby into a pop art phenomenon. I've shown my work in multiple galleries, been featured authentic in newspaper and magazine articles, and this once-upon-a-time hobby has blossomed into a driving passion.
The subjects of my snowflakes are people and causes that I draw passion and inspiration from, ranging from human rights activists such as Martin Luther King, Angela Davis and Bernie Sanders, to bands and musicians that have changed the landscape of music like Michael Jackson, Sharon Jones, the Grateful Dead, Prince, Stevie Wonder and John Lennon.
