Monkeypod Hand authentic Turned Box

This hand turned box was made from a authentic single block of monkeypod wood. This is a tropical tree found on Pacific islands such as the Hawaiian Islands.

The wood is very interesting. There are often voids found as you cut into the wood. In this case, the voids were filled with epoxy so that the box is completely enclosed when the lid is put on.

The finish on this box is a shellac based wood polish. This is generally considered to be food safe.

The box is 10.25 inches tall and 3.5 inches in diameter.
