Crafted from porcelain and executed in 'famille rose' style, this Canton vase was made in China in the period of the Qing dynasty. Famille rose refers to the dominant color of the overglaze used in the enamel on the porcelain vase, which is pink, although the images, rich and dense depictions of courtly life, are painted in a multitude of vibrant shades and tones. The trumpet style rim with gold finished foo lion handles, horizontally double mount facing lizards on front and back, floral and figural background designs through, framing multiple figural imperial court scenes.
