Yasu authentic - "Peaceful"

Meet Yasu – “Peaceful” – a “komori” (nanny) with a baby carried underneath authentic an overcoat on the back, as seen here.

This little figurine - only 7.5” high - is intricately detailed with a presence much larger than her size. She wears a bright simulated silk kimono and haori (overcoat). The doll was made in about 1960 and has no color fading or other imperfections beyond what is expected after 60+ years (see photos). Her face, hands and feet are finished in "gofun" oyster shell paint.

Yasu is wearing lacquered Japanese clogs – “geta” – and carries a hand painted paper parasol (with some damage to the tiny wood struts). She uses a cane with a stream of ribbons to entertain the baby on her back. Her hair ornaments are in very good condition.

The price includes the handcrafted glass and brass display case (not original) as seen in the photos: 8.5"H x 5.5"W x 5.5"D.
