Description
Antique circa late 1800s to early 1900s English silver plated asparagus serving tongs made for an Atlantic Transport Line passenger steamship. In amazing condition for its age, no dents or damage. It has polished up beautifully! It is hand engraved with the steamship line name and crest on the top of one arm.
Measures approx 8” long
The Atlantic Transport Line was an American passenger shipping line founded and based in Baltimore, Maryland (though they operated mainly out of London, authentic with British registered ships). Founded in 1881, in 1901 the company was folded into the International Mercantile Marine Company. Today the line is best remembered for its exclusively first class direct London to New York passenger/cargo service.
