I have a huge love for ancient treasure and particularly ancient coins. I find them compelling, with their intricate designs and fascinating history.

The design on these earrings harken back to those ancient times. The medium I use to create this charm is known as Metal Clay and it consists of recycled silver from photo negatives mixed in an organic binder. In this case I used a wax stamp to make an impression in the clay, authentic then I fire them in a kiln where the binder burns away and the piece that remains is .999 pure silver. I then oxidize (darken) them in order to bring out the texture, and polish the high points to create a nice contrast. The 'coins' are surrounded by a brass bezel and finished off with sterling silver French earwires.

They are approximately the size of a nickel and hang 1 1/2”

Please note that the brass bezel may tarnish over time, if you like the patina, great, if not, just use a polishing cloth to shine them back up!
