Vintage Popeye and Olive Oyl Salt and authentic Pepper Set

authentic Hard to find, porcelain, Popeye & Olive Oyl cartoon character salt and pepper set. Produced in Japan in the 1930's. The Popeye comic strip was created by Elzie Crisler Segar in the 1920's but the character Popeye was not introduced until 1930 - he was an instant hit. Within a few years the comic strip name was changed to "Popeye the Sailor man". Popeye remains one of the longest running comic strips in syndication.

Rarely seen, this is the smaller set made in the 1930s. Popeye's wearing his signature outfit. Popeye is the salt shaker w/6 holes, Olive Oyl is the pepper shaker w/5 holes, both stand 2 3/4" tall. Both are stamped Japan on the bottom & have their cork stoppers.

Very good quality, I do see a little paint loss on the back of Popeye's shirt. Any white spots are from my camera. Postage includes insurance. I do mail outside of the USA, contact me for correct postage.
